Matas Buzelis is headed back to his home state.
Buzelis was selected 11th overall in the 2024 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night after playing one season with the G League Ignite. The 19-year-old has a high ceiling with plenty of untapped potential, should the Bulls be able to help him develop his skills.
Buzelis was the No. 5-ranked player nationally in the 2023 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports' Composite rankings, but opted to forgo college and head straight to the G League.
Here's what to know about the forward:
"Good leaping ability, surprises with his dunks, soft shooting touch, plays through contact. Tested well at the combine with agility, vertical leap and other drills." — Jeff Zillgitt, Scooby Axson
Buzelis averaged 14.1 points with 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game last season with the G-League Ignite. He also averaged 2.1 blocks and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 44.5% from the field in 26 games (all starts).
Buzelis stands 6-foot-9, 197 pounds, according to his NBA draft profile.
